Therapeutic Engagement

We believe that a young person who has experienced trauma in early life will have further challenges to meet in addition to those that every teenager is likely to face.

A young person may experience heightened anxieties, socialisation difficulties and dysregulated emotions which prevents them being able to access opportunities and maintain relationships.

Led by our in-house wellbeing practitioner, young people and staff receive support in strategy development to address anxieties and barriers to work/ education and social engagement and during any times of crisis. The practitioner is involved from the initial referral assessment through support planning and reviewing strengths and weaknesses.

In order for young people to thrive and overcome barriers to education and work, anxieties must be addressed via open communication with staff and intervention strategies for when impulsivity and anxiety peak. The transition to independence is a key area where feelings of loneliness can prevent success, we recognise that young people need training and support to be prepared for their feelings, having friendship groups, hobbies and the ability to cope with living alone as a marker of success.
